DR. SWAMI SATYA PRAKASH

Acclaimed Yogic master Dr Swami Satya Prakash provides leadership for VYASA Canada in Vancouver British Columbia.  

Recognized for his proficiency in many different streams of Yoga, Dr. SatyaPrakash has a Doctorate in Performing Arts and three Master degrees- Master of Philosophy, Master of Music & Master of Yoga in Medical Sciences from the renowned BHU in Varanasi, India. He was a topper at the BHU and is a recipient of Lata Mangeshkar Award for his extraordinary understanding of the nuances of Indian classical music as well as his melodious renditions of various classical notes. 

Dr. SatyaPrakash is a rare exponent of the complete spectrum of Yoga with mastery in advanced yogic postures and subtle energy movements like the Khechari Mudra. His deep knowledge of ancient Indian philosophy, sciences and Sanskrit literature combined with his spellbinding oratory has captivated audiences all over the world. 

Besides his leadership of VYASA Canada, Dr. SatyaPrakash is the founder and inspiration of VISHWA that is active worldwide for promotion of yoga. 

Dr. SatyaPrakash leads the International Day of Yoga every year in the Vancouver joined by the Consulate of India, City of Surrey, Burnaby and Vancouver with participation from many prominent yoga organizations, temples, associations and colleges. He is an active participant in the effort to get yoga recognized as system of scientific learning and participates worldwide in Conferences such as Global Yoga Accreditation process organized by the Permanent Mission of India at the UN Headquarters in New York and the recent 17th World Sanskrit Conference of the University of British Columbia & the 3rd Global Conference on World’s Religions at McGill University, Montreal, among many others.

Dr. H.R. NAGENDRA

VYASA Canada works under the overarching inspiration and leadership of the founder of VYASA, Dr. H.R. Nagendra, known simply as ‘Guruji’ to legions of his followers all over the world. 

Recognized globally as the health advisor to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Dr. Nagendra also serves  as the Chancellor of the acclaimed Yoga University – the S-VYASA, located in Bangalore-India and holds the crucial responsibility of Chairmanship of numerous health-related committees within the Government of India.

Dr. Nagendra has completed a Masters degree and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering and served at the start of his career as a faculty at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. He then moved to the University of British Columbia, Canada as a post-doctoral fellow and further on to NASA in the United States. Later he also served as a consultant at Harvard University as well as at the Imperial College of Science and Technology, London.  

While maintaining his core specialty in scientific research, he moved back to India in the year 1972 to serve as a life worker of a non-profit service organization called Vivekananda Kendra in Tamilnadu, India. While at Vivekananda Kendra, he introduced specialized Yoga modules for school children across the poverty-ridden tribal belt of North-eastern India that had remarkable results in improving the health and educational  prospects of these children. He moved back to Bangalore in 1980 to establish VYASA and the first accredited Yoga university in the world, the S-VYASA. 

Dr. Nagendra has published more than 200 research papers in the field of Yoga and its applications in preventative and remedial healthcare. He has written more than 35 books, developed advanced Yoga practices, disease-specific Yoga therapy modules and curriculum for under-graduate, post-graduate and doctoral programs in Yoga.

 He has been recognized for his contributions in the field of Yoga by several institutions, governments and international agencies. He was awarded “Padmashri” in 2015, one of the highest civilian awards of India.

DR. MANJUNATH N.K

DR. MANJUNATH N.K is the Research head for VYASA and also serves as the the Director of Research and International Affairs at the S-VYASA University. He has completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Naturopathy Yogic Sciences from Mangalore University and a Ph.D. in Geriatric Medicine from S-VYASA University.  is the Research head for VYASA and also serves as the the Director of Research and International Affairs at the S-VYASA University. He has completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Naturopathy Yogic Sciences from Mangalore University and a Ph.D. in Geriatric Medicine from S-VYASA University.

He has 25 years of research experience and has published 64 research papers in journals indexed in international bibliographical data bases. His research interests include Psycho-physiology on Yoga, Neural correlates of meditation, Aging and rehabilitation. He believes in integrative medicine as the future of healthcare and conducting several studies combining the best of alternative medicine systems with conventional medicine. He has guided several students of Ph.D., M.D., and M.Sc. 

Dr. Manjunath has delivered lectures on evidence-based Yoga therapy and conducted workshops at prestigious institutions and Universities across the world including Harvard Medical School in the US, Monash University in Australia, Royal College of Medicine in UK, Shanghai University of Sports in China, Pharma University in Italy and others.

Dr. Manjunath is also the Editor of International Journal of Yoga (IJOY) and reviewer of various international journals. He serves as a member of Scientific Advisory Committee, Department of Science and Technology, Steering committee, Integrative Medicine, NITI Aayog, Working committee, Program accreditation, NAAC in the Government of India. He has also been the founding director and senior executive at a global chain of Integrative Medicine clinics and hospitals under the brand name Vivekananda Health Global, Boston Center of Excellence, Indo-US initiatives Inc. and Vice-President of Asian Yoga Therapy Association in Singapore.

‘Yogashri Satyam’ Dr Preeti, in Vancouver BC Canada, is a highly qualified professional with Doctorate from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) & has three Masters degrees – MSc Yoga Therapy, SVYASA, Masters in Philosophy JNU & Masters in Politics from Delhi University. In Canada, she was Associate Fellow, McGill University in Centre for Developing Area Studies (CDAS) and Certified Career Development Practitioner, Simon Fraser University & has worked for Service Canada. She  is a Life Member of Indian Yoga Association. Currently, she serves as the Chief Executive Officer for the operational functioning of VYASA Canada. Inspired by Dr H R Nagendra and Dr Swami Satya Prakash, she been teaching and promoting yoga and conducts Yoga workshops, teacher’s training programs and conferences worldwide. She is formally initiated in various traditions of yoga, including by Dr HR Nagendra & in the lineage of Kriya as well as of Shankaracharya’s Badrikashram Joshi Math through her service in VISHWA & Sadhna Ashram Trust in Himachal Pradesh & is conferred the title ‘Yogashri Satyam’ for her life dedicated to spirituality. She is actively  involved in nonprofit community activities, teaching & conducting action research projects  and chairs many Boards internationally.

DAYANAND SWAMY

Dayananda Swamy is the Head of Finance at VYASA and also serves as the Director of Finance at the S-VYASA University. He has completed a Masters in Business Administration as well as a Masters in Yoga Therapy. He is one of the senior members of VYASA who has contributed to the cause of Yoga for more than 35 years. Dayananda has contributed extensively to Accounts and finance department, Infrastructure, and for Human Resource Development VYASA.

Dayananda is an administrator, music lover, philosopher and promoter of Yoga and Yoga therapy. He has established the state of the art facilities for medical college and teaching hospitals, specially designed auditoriums, Hostels and Dining halls.
